Purpose
The Missions Ministry at AABC exists to lead the church in its participation in God’s plan for the proclamation of Jesus Christ worldwide.
Mission
The
primary mission of the Missions Ministry is to educate, enable, and empower the people of AABC to participate in and support the bringing of the Gospel to least-reached peoples
1 towards the goal of planting indigenous
2, disciple-making churches among those peoples.
The
secondary mission of the Missions Ministry is to support and guide the people of AABC as they individually sense God’s leading of them in missions and to support the bringing of the Gospel to all peoples.
Vision
The vision of the Missions Ministry is to see
every person at AABC is
actively participating in missions either by being part of the
Advocacy Program or involved in
short or long term missions.
1 The term “least-reached” and “unreached” are often used interchangeably. For the purposes of this document, we will adopt as our definition of “least-reached” to be “a people group within which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians able to evangelize to this people group.” This definition comes from “Finishing the Task: The Unreached Peoples Challenge” by Ralph D. Winter and Bruce A. Koch.
2 We believe that the sustainability of a church planted among least-reached peoples depends upon its not being seen as “foreign.” Therefore, a sustainable, disciple-making church among least-reached peoples must be one that (at least eventually) is considered “indigenous.”
