Growing By Slowing

The world tells us that to grow, we must “work harder”, “stay busy” and “beat the competition”. Those slogans can easily seep into the Church when we think about the reason why we are saved and how we are to grow in our faith. But this emphasis on doing before being costs us joy when things do not go our way… causes us to quit when there is an obstacle… and the only thing that grows is a big ego when we seem to get what we want. If we want to grow God’s way, we must first learn to slow down and be with Jesus.
