And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

–2 Timothy 2:2

When Stephanie and I first got married, I asked different couples what the key to a good marriage was. Some reminded me: “Happy wife, happy life.” Others advised: “Pray every night before you go to sleep.” But there was one suggestion that a majority of couples who I thought had healthy marriages all said: Do not forget to laugh.” Wisdom formed from years of marriage experience entrusted to Stephanie and me. Wisdom that consistently breathes life into our marriage.

With three young kids, our physical, emotional and spiritual fuel tank is routinely near E. Laughter keeps the monotonous grind from, well, grinding us to a halt. Whether it’s laughing at ourselves for another parenting blunder or our son’s failed potty training attempts, laughter lightens the burdens of life.

We treasure the wisdom entrusted to us. Whenever a young couple asks me for a marriage advice, I never hesitate to tell them: “Don’t forget to laugh.”

On September 20–22, we’re having our Church Retreat, and this year's theme is Entrusted. We are called to be disciples of Christ who make disciples of Christ. We entrust what has been entrusted to us to others. Come to retreat, and let us grow together so that we can be faithful disciples!
